I'm getting a Wii for Christmas! YAY! not any more. YAY! What does that mean? It means he's a PS3/XBox weenie, I think. Bah!Hiss And that means that he's a PS3/XBox weenie that doesn't have much in his vocabulary than that same two words and smiley that he seems to put everywhere
And it also means that he confirmed that he is a PS3/XBox weenie. I think. te reson why I put that smiley every where is because it is needed a lot with the carrots who are critizising me! Carrots? Haven't your parents told you to stop playing with your food yet?
And I DO use Nintendo prodcts to! You do use them to what? |

I played Motorstorm in HMV on Saturday. It's not as fun as Excite Truck on the Wii.
The graphics look better - more detailed textures - but you only notice it as a spectator, not when playing.
The game was fairly dull - lacking the sense of speed that Excite Truck gives, and it wasn't using motion controls (probably the fault of whoever set it up). The worst bit - always a dealbreaker for me in racing games - was the delay between crashing and getting back on the track. The slow motion crash scene really spoiled the momentum.
Not worth £500. |

Buy STALKER, because I've heard a lot about it but still have no idea whether it's any good or not! Wheras with RFOM, I've heard it's a bit flawed.
There is also the PS3 to consider, but without a game for it, what are you going to do?*
And regarding Motorstorm, I hear it's completely unplayable via the motion sensors, so that's probably why it was disabled.
* Other than download Tekken on it and play that. |

Buy STALKER Well, yes, that's what I was intending to do
because I've heard a lot about it but still have no idea whether it's any good or not! I've heard not so much about it, and also have no idea whether it's any good or not. But the large play area should at least give it a modicom of replay value.
Wheras with RFOM, I've heard it's a bit flawed. Possibly because it comes with a PS3
There is also the PS3 to consider, but without a game for it, what are you going to do?* Bludgeon someone to death, probably. |

I've not played Stalker, but I'll give my recommendation for Resistance (though for some reason, I doubt you'd buy a PS3 just for that).
ninj: where did you read it was flawed? I have completed it, and I didn't come across any flaws. The gameplay is excellent (as reviews suggested), and the cooperative play is the most fun I have had on any game. The story in single player and coop mode is also excellent. |

Good question: I think it might've been GamesTM - I can't find the review I was thinking of on any of the online sites I use.
Tom at eurogamer describes it as 'nearly excellent', 7/10.
Certainly a very strong launch title... but borderline as a killer app, I reckon (but then I don't play FPSes, so maybe I'm biased). |

STALKER, there. Hmm, I'm hearing rumours of it not being very good. Of course, those could just be coming from people who over-hyped it.
Perhaps I'll hold off for a week or two. |

And conversely, Kristan at Eurogamer has re-reviewed RFOM, and described it as disappointing:
That it merely aped almost all of the things wrong with this creatively moribund genre is alarming. That's not to say that it's a bad game at all, because in most senses Resistance bears a solid resemblance to a lot of very successful shooters of the last few years. But to simply come up with a game on a new platform that completely stands still feels like a huge disappointment from a studio that's more than capable of doing thing differently to everyone else. 6/10
That seems to line up more with GamesTM's review. Basically, if you just want another FPS, RFOM doesn't do anything particularly wrong - but it's no Halo or Goldeneye. Or Black, even. |

YAY!!!!!
Just got an email saying my PS3 has been despatched! Wooo! Excitement! At least I don't have to queue in the rain at midnight!
Whether or not I'll receive any games though is another matter cos I ordered "Resistance" along with a pre-order of "Gran Turismo 5" not realising that GT5 probably isn't out for another six months! Hope they split the order otherwise it will be a rather expensive plastic ornament until I get bored and venture into HMV! |

Enough to warrant our local "Game" store opening. I was in there lunchtime today and the manager was moaning that he had to come in and open up cos he'd got too many people wanting to collect their pre-orders at midnight.
I'm assuming that if he only had a few he'd have told them to bugger off and come back at 9am tomorrow! |

Pagh! You're just jealous!
A mate of mine has a Wii and it's got about a 10 minute attention span and no decent (grown-up) games for it. Several mates have XBox360's and that's very mediocre with the exception of a couple of games. PS3 is technically the best, so just wait until the next wave of games come out. I've got a demo CD which looks awesome, even on the laptop instead of the 1080i TV.
Still, only a few hours to wait and then I can see if it lives up to the hype! |

The Wii is far more fun.
And for the price of a PS3 you can get two Wiis and have money to spare for games
Plus you've just paid nearly twice the cost of the PS3 in the US/japan for the same piece of shite. Fool |

Pagh! You're just jealous! Nope. *waves Wii in PV's face again*
A mate of mine has a Wii and it's got about a 10 minute attention span and no decent (grown-up) games for it. How long an attention span do the players have?
I've already lost several weekends to Wii Sports, Zelda, and Excite Truck, and seen lots of jiggling fun with Wario Ware But I also love being able to play it for 10 minutes before going to the pub, or before work, or whatever. If I don't have the time to commit to long game playing sessions (increasingly the case ), the Wii is perfect.
The "kiddie" Nintendo argument has been done loads of times elsewhere, so I won't repeat it here. But you are this: wrong.
PS3 is technically the best Technically I could be a cross-dressing belly dancer called Marmaduke, but until it happens it remains only a possibility!
I've got a demo CD which looks awesome, even on the laptop instead of the 1080i TV. Pre-rendered?
Also, looks awesome != fun. But that argument's been done before too.
Still, only a few hours to wait and then I can see if it lives up to the hype! Yes!
I hope you have fun with it

A mate of mine has a Wii and it's got about a 10 minute attention span and no decent (grown-up) games for it. I can vouch for the short attention span. Four people I know have them (including my fiancee and I) and are already bored of it. A friend of mine who works in a large games company sold his to another friend of mine, who was initially very excited to get it, but is now very disappointed by the slow game release schedule. He's not played on it in weeks. Then I have another friend who managed to get bored of his in one night. Hurry up and release some decent games, Nintendo!
The PS3, don't forget, has the best proper racing games, hands down. It also argably has the best RPGs. Look at The Elder Scrolls Oblivion, which was just released this week over here.
Paul - hopefully you'll be able to download the GT HD demo from Sony's online store for free - it's excellent in 1080p! If you like racing games, Ridge Racer 7 is excellent and perfectly fluid, although the drifting is completely unrealistic!
When all that's said and done, it is the best media player you can get your hands on for the price. Blu-ray movies are *amazing* if you have the right setup.

<waits for angry Wii people to yell at me> Hi!
A mate of mine has a Wii and it's got about a 10 minute attention span and no decent (grown-up) games for it. I can vouch for the short attention span. Four people I know have them (including my fiancee and I) and are already bored of it. He's not played on it in weeks. Then I have another friend who managed to get bored of his in one night. Hurry up and release some decent games, Nintendo! You obviously have boring friends then.
Wii Sports is still good - obviously you don't play it for hours; it's not designed for that. The games get harder and need different tactics as you play them more and increase your skill level. People still want to play it more than anything else (except maybe Warioware) when they come over.
I also seem to remember you buying the crappiest release games out there (and Zelda). Got anything else since then? Bought any of the good games?
I've been playing:
December: Wii Sports/Zelda/Rayman January: Zelda/Wii Sports/Rayman/Wario ware Februrary: Warioware/Excite Truck March: Excite Truck/Mario 64/Wii Sports April is DS month: Contact and Hotel Dusk
There are other games released ages ago that I'd like to play (Monkey Ball, Red Steel) but I'll wait till I have time and they're cheaper.
I'll probably get Trauma Centre and Super Paper Mario when they come out too.
The PS3, don't forget, has the best proper racing games, hands down. Has it? Has it? Excite Truck has its deficiencies, but it's the most fun driving game I've played in years (probably since Stunt Racer ) I doubt it's the best game evar, but the bits it does well are brilliant, and I'm addicted to it.
It also argably has the best RPGs. Look at The Elder Scrolls Oblivion, which was just released this week over here. And which is delayed in Europe for no good reason. But it's out for XBox and PC too, so it's hardly a big selling point for the PS3.
I'm not really into RPGs, but the Opoona trailer caught my eye the other day.
When all that's said and done, it is the best media player you can get your hands on for the price. Blu-ray movies are *amazing* if you have the right setup. PORN |

Pagh! You're just jealous! LOL.
A mate of mine has a Wii and it's got about a 10 minute attention span and no decent (grown-up) games for it. If by "grown-up" you mean games where you have to earn respect from fictional gang leaders and syringe drugs into the only vein you can still find then no, I don't suppose there are.
Several mates have XBox360's and that's very mediocre with the exception of a couple of games. I was under the impression that the PS3's launch lineup was mostly old XBox360 games and that half of them had since been delayed anyway.
PS3 is technically the best, so just wait until the next wave of games come out. The Master System was far more powerful than the NES. Didn't mean anyone bought it.
I've got a demo CD which looks awesome, even on the laptop instead of the 1080i TV. Still, only a few hours to wait and then I can see if it lives up to the hype! Found this while looking for the previous link. Written two months ago, but it still seems relavant. I'm not sure if it's the same demo CD as they mention.
