This seems to be the place to go with Acorn related questions I hope someone can help...
We had 2 Acorns through my childhood. My brother and I were never allowed games consoles and had to satisfy ourselves with The Crystal Maze, Angband, Elite, Olympic Games, Manchester United and Intidictor 2!
However, along came Exodus which was a truly brilliant game!
We sold our Acorn and all the software when we moved 7 years ago or so.
My brothers birthday is coming up and was wondering if there is ANY way to obtain a copy of Exodus for running on Windows? Can it be run through an emulator?
I would be truly grateful if anybody could help.

There are none on eBay at the moment, but people quite often sell stuff here in the General forum. I myself sold off a huge bundle of old games and apps (including Exodus) back in May.
As for running it on Windows, probably your best bet is an emulator. Red Squirrel is a free, cut-down version of the VirtualAcorn software, although you need to source your own ROM images to run it. Depending on what OS version you emulate, it should be easy to run your games on an emulated machine. Good luck. |

Do you know if it is possible to download a copy of Exodus from anywhere or would I need to buy the original software to run it on a emulator?

Yes you can! It had slipped my mind, but you can grab it from the AcornArcade download page here; you can also get some other old classics from the main download page here and a secondary page here. Silly me!
Exodus was such a truly excellent game though. I bought it boxed when it was still fairly new, and it provided many hours of fun and excitement. Highly regarded by most of us, I think. |

Yes you can! It had slipped my mind, but you can grab it from the AcornArcade download page here; Unless I've missed some announcement, I'm fairly certain that just the demo of Exodus. But when you look at it on the downloads page the description doesn't mention that it's the demo 
If you want a copy of Exodus then I suspect either CJE or APDL will have one in stock. Just be warned: RISC OS software generally doesn't obey the rule of decreasing in price as its age and obsolescence increases! |

You could use an emulator. Virtual Acorn have a commercial one, which has various games etc with it to get started, or you could use something like RPCEmu, etc.

I think Red Squirrel and RPCEmu are the only free ones. I've used VirtualAcorn (VirtualA5000 and VirtualRiscPC both) and they're pretty decent, as far as such things go. |

First of my apologies for posting this here, I seem to get an error when I try to make a new topic.
I got a question for you guys, well perhaps a request. After hours of work I got a Virtual Acorn OS running and it plays all the old games I used to play, which is awesome.
Now, Exodus was something else, I loved that game and I played it alot with my brother. I found the floppy disks and installed it, hoping they would still work. Succes!
But then I noticed you need to enter a code at the start of the game from the manual. I've looked everywhere for over 2 hours, but I can't find it anywhere, I think my dad threw it away when he needed to make up space.
Coming down to the request, is there someone out there who still owns the manual? If so, do you have a PDF version of it, or could you perhaps put the codes and page numbers in a word file and send it to thomiduvigneau [at] gmail [dot] com, that would be so much appreciated!
I would be so grateful if anyone could help me with this!

Whilst we don't have a PDF version of the manual, I think we sell the whole game (floppies plus manual) for a fiver at shows etc. I'd need to check what we had left, but depending on your feelings, that might be a fairly affordable way of getting a new copy. |
