1.) OMG, look at those prices!
2.) Does anyone knows more about "Killerbugs"? Either there are no information about it on the web, or my google-fu is getting weak. |

There appear to be some cheats listed in Archive 7.1 from October 1993, so it must have been out before then.
Ah, and it's on the 'products' page in June of that year (issue 6.9).
I'd look up the issue on the DVD, but I don't have time today. |

Nice, now I know at least it's a "space invaders"-like game. |

My plans for today have changed. (I was going to be heading for some caves, but the person I'm going with has had to cry off, so we'll go another day).
So... let's dig out the DVD!
It doesn't say a great deal. From issue 6.9's "Products available":
Killerbugs is a space-invaders look-alike from C.I.S. The graphics and sound effects are very good. The price is £19.95 from C.I.S. or £18 through Archive. It also mentions elsewhere that a review copy had been received (Paul used to include a list of such so that people would get in touch and offer to review things).
The cheats in 7.1 appear to have been on the disc, rather than in the magazine. Looking at that (on a Windows machine), it seems to be a binary file of some form, but I can see the following bits of text within:
CheatMod KillerBugs 1.00 (17-Dec-1992) Written by Andrew J. Rawnsley With The Hacker from DoggySoft
Right-Ctrl + L : 255 Lives Right-Ctrl + E : Extra Life
© Andrew Rawnsley Computing, 1993 I wonder if there was a review - which didn't show up in the Google search results.
(Edit: If you get sidetracked before posting, re-read what you've written in case you haven't finished writing it)

I wonder if there was a review - which didn't show up in the Google search results. There was - Andrew Rawnsley reviewed it in volume 7, issue 3.
It's a space invaders variant, with four types of alien (Byrds, Bouncers, Centipedes and Landers) and a twist or two (eg being bombed and losing all your lives isn't the only way to get a game over). It couldn't be copied to hard disc and Andrew reckoned it was over priced at £24.95 - but by the time of the review, the official price had dropped. |

Never intended to buy it anyway, but that I didn't knew Killerbugs ... well, bugged me.
Thanks for the information. |

This is very freaky, I have no recollection of this game whatsoever, nor creating a cheatmod for it. I don't even recognise the packaging. It's a bit worrying, as I like to think I have a fairly encylopedic knowledge of RISC OS software.
Have I been watching too much Fringe, or is this Alternate Universe time?
(or, more likely, it reflects how little memory I have of my ME era).
Thinking more, I recall reviewing a number of rather ropey titles, but this doesn't ring any bells whatsoever.
