Into The Void PhotographsBelow are some shots provided by Paul Middleton from a TV series filmed in September 2001, called "Into the Void / Outside the Rules". It was transmitted on BBC 1 in February 2002 but due to various contractual difficulties it wasn't completed and only two stories were filmed and transmitted as a Crime Double.The series was based around the exploits of a psychologist searching for missing children and their killer. Daniela Nardini (of This Life fame) played Natalie Vine. She is pictured with the Director Suri Krishnamma (who went to direct series such as Dalziel and Pascoe and Sea of Souls). Sully Hospital outside of Cardiff was used as the location. It was a large 10 storey hospital built in the 1930's, which had just been decommissioned and has now been converted into luxury flats. Various scenes were filmed inside the hospital which was meant to be based around Fareham in Dorset. As well as the office computer used by Daniela to browse the Police records looking for links between missing children and read emails, there were also machines providing security checks and closed circuit tv links. The series was shot on film and required genlocking of the computers and TV monitors to ensure that there was no flickering between the pictures from the cctv cameras and the computers in shot. This was quite a complicated task as the cameras had to cover a wide area around the hospital grounds as well as multiple computers in some shots. As well as providing the computers, Paul also did all the graphics for the various screens used.
