Unregistered user What are the restrictions on smiley images?
Can we submit our own or do they have to come from some huge smiley library?

Unregistered user I was going to do them myself, then there's no problem with copyright.

Your average smiley is just 16x16*; if it's a smiley and something else next to it then it can be made bigger, but the smiley part is still 16x16. Large graphics aren't good for obvious reasons (and the slightly less obvious problem of b****ring up line spacing), and animations can be both annoying and destructive to the background colour on some RISC OS browsers (yeah, Fresco, I'm talking about you!). I'm not saying no animations, I'm saying they shouldn't be used without good reason.

* Yes, I know some specials are bigger, but usually average no more than 20x20 which is still not huge. My face smiley is about 18x22, and that's showing a fairly complex face compared to smileys.

Unregistered user Hey, is there any chance of having my own icon?
I know I've not made as many posts as required, but mine tend to have quite a lot of text in them.
If not I'll just have to hit the playpen I guess.
Think of that and tremble.

Unregistered user I've made a nice nut smiley:

However I can't get the stupid gif editor to add a mask.

Howsabout a 'heart' smiley, or an 'in-love' smiley?

Unfortunately I still can't get any masks on them - I do have a program which will let me add a mask, but it saves the gifs in a bloated format with a massive 'This is a demo version blah blah blah' message meaning they're literally 10 times the size they are now.
Use InterGIF - it's free, and works on RISC OS, Windows and Linux.

http://www.chaos.org.uk/~pdh/software/intergif.htm

Under RISC OS you can design things in Paint (still the best icon designer), and use a Sprite mask; then convert it using InterGIF and the mask is translated into a GIF masked colour. Dunno about the other versions though.

With the helmet I think the red one is best.

Can I have a hertzsprung Hertzsprung instead of 'Member' ? Pretty please, Rich?

According to convention, that would be "Top Hertzsprung"... smile

Or that! smile

Monkey was my old logo from way back (see http://www.houseofmabel.com/), whereas the other stuff is newer and dates to around the time I started using richg.
I should commission you to do a moss logo for mossnet (arriving over summer, website fans) wink

What did he do to it????

Um, yeh, sorry, but what am I doing to it?
And how can I avoid doing it in future?
Has it got something to do with editing the profile? if so, what?
Sorry unhappy

Yes, thanks Mentat.
I've submitted a couple of Carryon Smileys which may be or not be suitable. Has anyone got any carry-on gasps or guffaw or phwoar mugshots? They may well be useful in a conversation smile
