from what i've tested, there isnt really any technical restrictions to smilies, mr rich just needs to add the image, and add it's 'link' to a text file shock

And draw them first. It all takes time.

Plus a huge page of smileys on the "list smileys" page isn't very desirable.

Plus I was going to add a javascript thingy to automagically add the smileys into the text box for you.

That would be good.

Why is monkey not hidden but duck, moss, tardis and flamethrower are?
Monkey was my old logo from way back (see http://www.houseofmabel.com/), whereas the other stuff is newer and dates to around the time I started using richg.

Brings back fond memories from when ICQ actually worked on RISC OS... indiff

Don't want to jinx anything, and I've touched wood, but ICQ is working on my computer - I've just checked over VNC to my computer two miles away... smile

'cos they began as avatars, not smilies.

monkey was a smiley that got converted into an avatar, and then things got all silly cool

We need to set priveledges for smilies, then, don't we.

Warning: you are not authorised to use this smiley. tongue

Use InterGIF - it's free, and works on RISC OS, Windows and Linux.

http://www.chaos.org.uk/~pdh/software/intergif.htm

Ta - knew I'd heard the name InterGIF somewhere...

So my smiley to-do list is:

Embarrassed/sheepish (Unless Andrew Duffell's http://banners.iconbar.com/face.gif will do)
Beer (Unless Rich Mackin's http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richmackin/beer.gif will do)
Clock/time piece
:tux: (???)
Crash helmet
Evil git smiley? >]
Apologetic smiley? :Z
Confused smiley? :\
Alien? ])
Stoned?
"I fart in your general direction" smiley
:meow:
:handbag:

... looks like I've got a fun weekend ahead then tongue

Under RISC OS you can design things in Paint (still the best icon designer), and use a Sprite mask; then convert it using InterGIF and the mask is translated into a GIF masked colour.

That's what I do smile

Cool. mentatheartrpc !!! grin

Back on topic (you know how I like to be on topic)...

Howsabout a 'heart' smiley, or an 'in-love' smiley?

Looks like we now have heart. Plus acorn, cog, arc, rpc and ro4. Ta, flamethrower!

Phlamethrower Message #6227, posted at 13:58, 15/6/2002, in reply to message #6226
Unregistered user I've uploaded them using my PHP thingy on ROIW smile

http://riscos.iswe.net/stories/smilies-for-tib/index.html

Got an Arc, RPC, ROS4 and Select logo, as well as a dodgy looking heart. Both come in bordered and unbordered format.

Unfortunately I still can't get any masks on them - I do have a program which will let me add a mask, but it saves the gifs in a bloated format with a massive 'This is a demo version blah blah blah' message meaning they're literally 10 times the size they are now.

[update]

Before Rich goes crazy, don't worry because it's something wrong with my computer stopping me from logging into ROIW/CC. At the moment it only seems to resolve addresses for http servers - no ftp sites, no irc, etc.

shock

And I almost helped you out by making these smilies! wink

Um, yes, but I'm not drawing them wink

Cogwheel, RISC OS 4 logo, RPC logo and whatever else I decide to do will be up in an hour or two (I think...). It'll definitely be today though smile
