Hi Guys, i got a nice A310 from a chap in Cambridge, trying to play ELITE on it, but how do i fly the damm cobra? i cant use the mouse, i hate it. Any ideas?

Ok i have always played with the keyboard on other machines, i got this a310 to plat on, i can see no options to use the kb, i can see no icon?

AFAIK you can play with both sets of controls at the same time, or you can disable the mouse altogether, which is what I was actually referring to through the control panel. The ArcElite keyboard controls are: < and > to roll, X and S for climb and dive, and [spacebar] and ? for accelerate/decelerate. I seem to recall that D is to fire lasers. 1-4 changes view, and of course the F-keys operate other functions.
You can find the entire manual for ArcElite on my site here, at the bottom. It's in a zip file, so depending on whether you have a de-archiver, you might want to download it to a normal PC. I've also got various cheat and effects modules on that page too. |

Oops, beg your pardon, it's S to fire, D doesn't do anything. Remember you can toggle long/short radar with P, and no you can't use both sets at the same time; disabling mouse in the options is what enables the keyboard controls. Dang rusty memory of mine. |

Confession: I never got on with Elite. I always found it too hard to get started. As in: I couldn't.
Now I'm older, I'd probably enjoy it a lot more, mind. |

on both a emulator and a real arc, i cannot use the kb for flying ie <> s etc do nothing, there must be a button to push to enable the kb? |

In the icon on the icon bar, click with the menu button. You can disable the mouse in one of the submenus. |

Well, having owned an A5000 and several RiscPCs, I can tell you that it runs just fine on those boxes. Maybe you're missing some modules from your !Boot structure? Do you get any error messages when trying to run it? |
