This subject lies equally between Games and Programming so I had to pick one of them.

Is there anyone interested enough in the wonderful RailPro signal simulation to be prepared/able to put together a PC clone?

I have never seen anything on a different platform that comes close to the intense frustration and mounting tension offered by RailPro as the game progresses; or is it just me?

I did consider doing it a while back but my Windows programming skills were rather limited at the time so I never did anything about it.

I wouldn't mind getting a copy myself.

I think it's written in BASIC so the source code should be available. My RiscPC is in a box at the moment so I can't check.

Just a question of copyright etc.

I know that the author, Jos Keijzers is sadly deceased and within his game description, he said "This program is freeware and only for purpose of enjoyment. If you wish to distribute it, don't hesitate, it's alright by me."
Does that make it free for a clone to be written?

Don't like to keep harping on but may I ask, is there actually anyone interested/talented enough to attempt actually doing this?

It would be nice to see this game in the more general computer world before I fall off the perch. wink

All, I know is that it's incomplete. But maybe it's a good start?

What are you trying to say? That's pretty recent, in RISC OS terms.

It should be quiet at work next week, so I might actually try to get all the Haunted House screenshots done... then it'll only be at most three years of inactivity before I finally get round to it big grin

Nice to know you're still interested.

Is there any way to send you a PM on these forums?

No, I think you'll have to exchange email addresses.

Which was why I asked about PM.
So, short of broadcasting my email address here, (which I'd rather not do) and hoping that the other party will see it and respond, (Which I presume he'd rather not do), how do I go about this?

Terry

Thanks. Right, it's now converted to BASIC. Only problem is that it's bascrunched (or something like bascrunch).

Inevitable question - anyone got a debascruncher? Search and replace will work to an extent, but not with munged names etc.

Cool - but I only want the bubbles with a 12 month guarantee of an upgrade from a certain OS company that can't get it's act together and work with another OS company to make a uniformed OS that we can all enjoy....

Nope, sounds more like plain old-fashioned anger or irritation than sarcasm.

It's a shame that people seem unable to grasp basic grammatical concepts in this day and age*.

Although ironically, the first hit with a Google define: search shows that apparently "irony" is a synonym of "sarcasm". Sometimes I just want to weep.
