Woo,
is it just me, or are .com addresses slow? I've had problems with aintitcool.com all night both at the office and at home, and iconbar.com seems none too speedy; switching to iconbar.co.uk seems faster, although of course I had to log in again.
Anyone else get this? ________ Cheers, Rich.

Anyone else get this? Only slight delay on .com (couple of centiseconds at most)
Could this be the Internet finally dying ________ |

How can .com addresses be slower than .co.uk when the machine pointed to has the same IP address? Once you've looked it up the resolver will use the IP address from its cache! You must know that, surely? Unless there's an odd parsing bug in apache affecting the host field |

You must know that, surely? Unless there's an odd parsing bug in apache affecting the host field Seeing as I was in two different locations, you're presupposing that the sites I was looking at were DNS cached when there's no way they could have been. And even after the first lookup, at home I'm using the ADSL router as my primary DNS server, so who knows what that does WRT caching? ________ Cheers, Rich.

Ah, I think we're confused between addresses and lookups! The DNS system is heavily cached everywhere, as I'm sure you're aware, only getting checked with the authority every couple of days usually, but who knows how things are going in the world of caching anyway |
