Woo,
a couple of modules for someone to knock up if they're feeling bored:
1. A module that bleeps when truning on/off Caps Lock. Can't remember who asked for this, but I've found it most handy on the PC laptop - a higher pitched beep for on, and a lower one for off (or hey, sound themes if you're *really* bored ). 2. Doggysoft's AddSprites, but in a 32-bit friendly stylee. Tried emailing Doggysoft for a recompile/source code, but it bounced
Anyone got any more ideas? ________ Cheers, Rich.

What's AddSprites? One of them iconsprites-protecting things? Yes. I know there's similar stuff built in to the OS of later machines, but a module not only works on earlier computers, it allows me to quickly switch it on and off when loading desktop themes. ________ Cheers, Rich.

Hang on; surely if it's built into later machines (I think OS 5 has it), then you wouldn't need a 32bit version anyway because you could just use the built-in protection? |

In fact I have to disable the in-built stuff so that I can load sprites in the Themes program, which means a soft-loadable alternative which can be switched on and off quickly is even more valuable (because it offers protection when the main way is down). And just having one method for all machines saves on the programming hassles. The Doggysoft module also does other stuff IIRC; protects non-ROM sprites from being overwritten, but allows sprites through if an alternative isn't already loaded. Basically, it's just much nicer.
Also, when I asked ROL for info I got a really snotty reply. ________ Cheers, Rich.

I know there's similar stuff built in to the OS of later machines. There is? Thinking about it, it's a RISC OS 4 thing probably. Perhaps "built in" might have raised expectations of it being in the machines as Acorn supplied them ________ Cheers, Rich.

But that disables iconspriting all the sprites in the sprite file. AddSprites only added new sprites to the sprite pool and left existing ones untouched. |
