Anyone interested in booting their Aleph One PC-Card into Linux will be jolly pleased with myself and the right honourable Dave.

Collect from http://lgw21.sid.cam.ac.uk before the end of term a disk image that boots a -very isolated- linux kernel, and bash. BE WARNED: it's so isolated, it can't even see the hard drive, but the bootloader loads the contents of the drive into a RAM disk, and you can play around in the BASH shell.

Choose 'root directory' then the 'Linux' folder, then 'Drive_C'

Make sure you set the type of the file to 'DOSDisc' and then use it as your harddrive in !PCConfig

This is Dave's work. I deserve none of the credit. Just love me for providing the machine for him to experiment on.

Later versions will contain more toys ...

Sorry, nothing to do with the Linux (I'm sure it's lovely), but http://lgw21.sid.cam.ac.uk/cgi-bin/filer?dir= sometimes returns no listing, and gibberish instead of the directory title, e.g. it's just given me "Contents of SS€€Soptoff, opton€€Minimum sizeian€€€€12.0
". Something wrong with WebJames' filer script?

Yes. I am annoyed because I don't have time to fix it now (exams coming up etc.)

Usually, banging refresh a few times (nb. not pressing, as this never helps) will usually clear up the problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Trouble is, RISC OS sees Drive_C as a directory and thus so does Webjames! Perhaps you could set the filetype to Data in RISC OS?

Sure. Sorry.

Please remember to set the filetype back to DOSDisc or whatever it's supposed to be on retrieval!

(Edited today at now o'clock: still haven't done it yet. Sorry. Will do tonight. Prob.)
