Unregistered user At least your printer isn't about to die. Whenever I try printing the first time after it's been turned on, the print head tries to derail itself and windows complains. Also the ink has just about run out - alternate black and gray lines of text, anyone?

The only good copy of my physics coursework has got the page numbers missing because the printer was set to the wrong page size!

I've given up printing stuff at home, mainly because a 9-pin dot matrix simply doesn't cut it compared to the uni lasers. We get free printer credits in our computing department, you see, which is nice, especially when the people forced to use the poxy uni ISS (Information Systems Services) don't.

Unregistered user The University of Leeds.

It's quite funny actually; people ask "Which uni do you go to?". "Leeds" I say. "What, Leeds Metropolitan, or the proper one?" That makes me laugh.

The University of Leeds.

Thought so. People using the ISS ones do get free credits - they are allocated by departments though, so it depends what course you're on.

I too suffer from that. I don't know why. Maybe Manchester students get "What, UMIST?" and Liverpool students get "What, John Moores" or something...?

It's the way they say "...or the proper one?", thus implying that Leeds Met is in no way a proper university. What does this say about the conversion from Polys to Unis?

Nope they've changed it - deadline is now before the Easter hols (i.e. the end of next week shock).

That's probably to prevent what happened last year - nobody revising cos they were all doing their FYPs.

BTW Lee I was meaning to wander down to Grad tonight to check out The Usuals, but I forgot. Did I miss out - are they any good? smile

They are very good. Unfortunately you probably won't get a chance to see them because Alan is off on sabbatical for 6 months.

I've actually done quite a bit of work on the forum rewrite already (there's a perfectly working version online). I'm hoping to start proper beta testing in a week or two.

I'd appreciate a hideously broken version running on TIB at the moment, that way maybe I'd get something done on my dissertation!

In an attempt to stray even further off topic wink...

What uni is that? I think I recall...

At Southampton, their 'ISS' used to be call Southampton Uni Computing Services (or SUCS - which it did).

My advice to Tim would be - it's your last term and a bit at uni. Unless TIB and alphaboard are central to your future plans ignore them and enjoy it while it lasts.

And then once they've kicked you out get back over here and fix the page miscounts monkey

I wish Tim would finish his dissertation off so we can have some enhancements to alpha-board and maybe the Icon Bar.

IIRC Tim probably has about 6 weeks until his deadline (assuming it's still first week after the Lancaster Easter break). He'll then have maybe three weeks before his finals for revision.

I think hoping that Tim will have time to do any major changes to alpha-board and TIB before the end of June is asking a bit much. unhappy

What sort of enhancements were you thinking of Andrew?
