There's a problem with the Wii. Every five minutes when playing games like Wii Sports, it asks you to wear the wrist strap. This is fine, because it's between games. However, what happens when the strap breaks during bowling?

Subtlety, there.

Ummm... http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/11/17/man_shot_in_ps3_queue/
I've heard about people being shot by BB guns while waiting in line - but wouldn't be particularly surprised if that was a real gun this time.

We had a few people over this weekend and bowling was a big hit (and tennis, and golf too), but they were getting rather animated in front of my TV and I was wondering what would happen if they forgot the strap, or it broke! I think the article above answers my question.
Were these people the sort who normally play computer games?
What he means is, were any of them attractive single females who would consider making an old :monkey: happy?

Also:

This auction is for a 60 GB SONY Playstation 3 in my hand
Does that mean he's going to cut his hand off and send it with the PS3?

So some plonker bought it for $1,245, more than twice the alleged buying price? How desperate, how sad. And how wasteful judging by some of the reviews I've read. More money than sense, these people.

Ah, that is such a beautiful story - but a bit predictable because the hero of the piece, as ever, gets the ps3.

I got my PS3 last night! It was quite a surreal experience. I managed to find a Wii for a friend so he gave me his place on the list for a PS3. We turned up at the Sony Centre in Denver and they gave me a security escort back to my car!

It's better than I had expected after playing it in the shop. It looks like there was a firmware update, or an update to the demos preloaded on the console I played on, because I downloaded one of the same demos (Motorstorm), and it looks and plays great. Full 60fps at 720p (most games right now are 720p or 1080i maximum). Ridge Racer 7 is a great arcade racing game and the graphics are amazingly smooth - the music sounds great too. Resistance is visually stunning, although the AI seems a bit poor.

You can also rip CDs to AAC or ATRAC (I didn't see an option for mp3) and you can dump stuff like movies onto the HD (though I think they may have to be converted to H.264). The upscaling DVD player looks great, and Blu-Ray movies only take 5-10 seconds to play, in comparison to the 40 seconds I have read about on website. I can't honestly notice much difference between an upscaled DVD and a Blu-Ray movie at 720p and 1080i. It works fine on my old DVI HDTV with a HDMI-to-DVI adapter.

The UI isn't half as nice as the Wii, but it's nice in its own way. One thing I like about it that Nintendo don't offer (yet) is downloadable game demos - some up to 450MB, but most around 90MB.

The motion controller works well but the Wii's works better. Only one game I have supports it (Motorstorm demo), but you can tilt it to do wheelies, which is fun.

I've seen both a Wii and a PS3 today. :o

There was a Wii demo pod in Game, running Wii Sports - no controller on hand, nor attendant to give you one (too busy with paying customers). Lots of people milling around staring at it!

There was a playable PS3 in Computer Exchange. :o It was running Need For Speed Carbon, I think, and it looked very dull. The graphics were very shiny/plasticky, and the game itself looked rubbish. Poor movement and gravity, like you were playing in tar. Didn't seem any better than the last-gen apart from sharper graphics and a deeper plotting distance. Yawn. :P

Definitely not worth $2000 :o

Yeah, NFS Carbon is horrible - it's had poor reviews. I bought the last NFS game for the PSP, but I didn't like the look of this one.

I was going to buy one but they already have a line of 8 people outside my local Target in the middle of nowhere. Apparently it formed last night!

I read that hardly anyone is buying one to play. Most are buying to sell on eBay. So, who is buying them for $2000+ a pop?
http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Playstation_3_Is_it_Still_Worth_it_to_eBay_One

So "not many people" is the answer :-)
