I tried playing Phaethon on my A7000+ and it came up with a blank screen and then I just click mouse or hit the keyboard to return to the desktop. I tried patching it but it only yields the same results. Any suggestions? Also, when I patch it, despite the fact the patcher says the original files are in a directory inside !Phaethon - they're nowhere to be found. I believe it is patching it though...

I suggest you do that manually. It still seems to patch the game though - although the game still often doesn't work, and sometimes the patch seems to make it begin to load, then crash :-( So you're not the only one with the problem, sorry I don't have any answers for you though... |

Is it something to do with the screen mode? I don't know much about the picker these days. I had an A3010 back when I was young and changed it to modes like 15, 12, etc. What mode would/should be suitable. Oh, wait - that patch should mean I shouldn't have to right? I liked playing the Demo when I had the A3010 now the full game's available and all I want to do is play the game!!

Nope, just as before it comes up with an error. However, now I can see the error: Internal error: abort on data transfer at &00027C58 Press SPACE or click mouse to continue. Crap. Does this give anyone any insight into why Phaethon's not working? ________ "Computers are like Air Conditioners - They work fine until you open Windows." My copy is also giving me problems (RISC OS 3 StrongARM). It'll let you start playing the first level, but sometime after that it'll crash. I'm not sure where my copy is from, but it definitely has some kind of patch installed. |
