Just wondering if there was any recent word on a release date for TEK? It's just that I'm a bit low on cash, or I would have bought Heroes of Might and Magic 2, but now it's looking like by the time I have enough spare cash, both of them will be available, causing a severe dilemma for me.

So if TEK is going to take a little longer than planned, I might just go ahead and buy HoMM2 sooner rather than later.

If we could have some official word on Tek it would be a big help. As it stands I'd go for Homm2 as There is no word on Tek and it will have a hard job beating HoMM2 anyway. I've given up waiting and I'm going to invest in a Game Boy Advance game tommorrow.

Your best bet might be to email Artex or Jan directly. He would be able to give you the best idea of how close TEK is to being released.

Hi,

here's a very official word! smile
Of course Artex are quite unhappy that it took such a long time to develop the realtime strategy game TEK. However most of you know some of the most significant problems by now which lead to many delays along the way.
Our most recent problem was that we, as it (sadly) almost usual in the computer business, underestimated the effort that is still necessary to get TEK actually released.

The definite release date is now April 15th 2002. The press will receive a version before, so you can expect reviews around the same date. Definitely.

That said, I am sure that there is very much to expect from a game that has seen more than four years of development, and it will not try to beat HOMM2, as it is a totally different game! I'm sure that every strategy gamer will be happy to own both of these games. And keep watching www.artexsoft.com, there'll be some fresh news within the next few days!

Have a nice day!
Jan

Hi Jan,

I'm sorry about my previous post, I think it was very badly worded. I was not trying to say that Tek wouldn't be as good and I'm well aware that they are both completly different games. I personally am really looking forward to Tek and I simpily can't wait to play it. Looking at my previous post I feel it was rude and I apologise! I'm glad there is still someone developing games for RISC OS keep up the good work!!!

Great stuff Jan! I know about delays, my forcast
for fixing rust in my Range Rover was 3 months, but a year has gone by... I hope everything goes
well from here, the screenshots look absolutely brilliant, I will definately buy TEK! It's nice to see effort being put into RiscOS games, as for too long we only seemed to have tacky PD stuff which although playable looks homemade. Keep up the fantastic work!!!!!!!!!!!

Ben

I've posted this question on the Iconbar too, but thought it only fair to bring some life to the AA forums too, since TEK's a game an' all... wink

Good news!
I paid for my copy yesterday (by switch) and it arrived today. So it is now out ... definitely.
smile

I want to know what the secret mystery special gift-prize extra for early pre-orderers was all about...

?????!

I had a look in the box before I came in and it contained an Ankh CD, a blue manual of some kind (I forget what that was for) and the Tek CD.
Didn't check what was on the CDs, but I think a contents list indicated it had botkiller2 on as well.
Problem is now I have to work all day, and I think a friend will be visiting this evening, and I'm bursting to play it..
Ah well..
