I've just bought the latest Edge Retro magazine again, despite it being rather pricey, as it contains reprints of many of "The Making Of..." articles including the ones for Exile, Elite, Repton and Chuckie Egg.

I hope you other retrogamers find this information useful.

Yes. The spelling of Phoebus still varies throughout the Exile article, too. Still, it's nice to have a paper copy of it all lying around.

if anyone wants to see screenshots of Elite running on the Electron (and who wouldn't?) then http://www.houseofmabel.com/downloads/elk/elite/ might tickle your fancy. Pity Simon Challands doesn't seem to have an email address handy...

That's not exciting enough for me! Look at these images for some Electron Exile action:

http://www.boddie.org.uk/david/Projects/Emulation/Exile/Images/exile-gargoyle1.gif
(Getting past a fireball-launching gargoyle the unconventional way.)

http://www.boddie.org.uk/david/Projects/Emulation/Exile/Images/exile-kill-robot-s.gif
(Killer robot gets a nasty surprise as propulsion technology is used in a way that the manufacturers didn't intend.)

I'd put the "Undiscovered Exile" movies on that site but they happen to be quite large and I'd rather not exceed the bandwidth restrictions. cool

That second one is great! - even that can't destroy it though can it?

Undiscovered Exile? What do you mean - tell us more! smile

Oh I should say I'm clear on all published solutions now, when published, by whom and where, thanks to Dr.Johnston. I'm intending to update the FAQ asap and I'll mention it on comp.sys.acorn.games.

Does it look like the robot survives?! Only one of the robots is not susceptible to that form of punishment; even then it has to teleport away to recover.

Just teasing! I've got two or three movies showing how to legitimately get the icer and protection suit right at the start of the game.

Not seen any of those before, mind if I stick on or two on the site, for completeness?

Stopping making my email address handy did reduce the amount of spam rather a lot. It's the same as the old acornarcade one used to forward to.

I thought it was teleporting away?

Both? Aren't there four of them?

Look at the huge map on Simon Storr's site or in the solution!

Mr.Storr's map could be misleading as it's a screenshot effort but I'll have a look in the solution at some point. I'm sure there are only two teleporting Triax robots though, maybe I'm wrong.
