... AKA Iron Dignity for the PC. Not sure how many people know about it (I only found out yesterday, from the last comment on the ID preview). A demo of SC is available from the game's website (The download link appears in a pop-up so be warned, although there are plenty of other download sites with it on). Unfortunately no-one seems to have heard of the game, and those who have don't rate it too highly (IGN readers gave it only 32/100). The demo has quite a few crash-causing bugs in the interface, and the controls can be a bit strange too. Some of this is due to the nature of the game (i.e. having independent turret & base controls can be disorientating), others are due to the implementation (Not being able to turn tracked vehicles on the spot without accelerating; the helicopter being able to hover at an angle, but if you move forwards then you start losing altitude, etc.). There are also a few other noticeable bugs (e.g. in the GA mission the helicopter you have to destroy simply rides straight over a vertical wall it should have crashed into, your ally has a habit of running over solar panels, etc.), not to mention the forced restriction of movement placed on the units - some map tiles (e.g. on steep slopes) are simply off-limits, which makes the world feel somewhat artificial and restricted. However having said that, it's only the demo which I've played, and I'm sure that if it were ported to RISC OS (which still looks to be technically possible) then it'd still be one of the best games we've ever had . PS - Amercain voiceovers. Yuck! |

Where did you see this? Jan Klose mentioned Deck13.com but this doesn't exist apparently. Also Artexsoft.com is down. |

The last comment on Acorn Arcade's Iron Dignity preview. I'll assume that in your excitement you failed to spot that I mentioned this in the post itself |

Gallery looks amazing. I wish they could do a cut-down version for the Iyonix perhaps. |

Hi, artexsoft.com and deck13.com are back online. We changed the provider and that took 3 (!) months due to a legal issue between the German and the U.S. provider... I'm afraid Stealth Combat won't appear for the Iyonix though. Frank Föhl has left the Deck13 team, and anyway it would be a hell of an effort to do the conversion, with revenues being next to nothing I assume Cheers, Jan |
