Just stumbled onto this fantastic website: Gamasutra.com has some excellent articles about game making, from games design to creating 3D engines, creating tech trees for God games like Civilization (Chopping down the Tech Tree by Ethan Wathrall), creating AI engines for games (More AI in Less Processor Time: 'Egocentric' AI by Ian Wright and James Marshall), Path finding (Pawn Captures Wyvern: How Computer Chess Can Improve Your Pathfinding by Mark Brockington) and numerous other excellent articles on game making and a bulletin board for discussion of ideas. Check out Features for the articles.

There probably aren't any tutorials there but it's possible that some may be available in the Game Designer magazine that's connected to the site. I found none in the list provided but the magazine itself may have some information or may be planning a tutorial on this matter.

The Gamasutra site seems mostly focus on designers and programmers with some knowledge of the subjects but some of the information is good for beginners as well.

NEVER underestimate BBC-BASIC !!!
Although it might not be as fast as C,it can do lots of things in sufficient time ...
I personally would not know how to convert a bunch of C-"Code" to understandable
math formula - let alone BASIC. But i also couldn´t program any assembler stuff out
of pure math (except 1+1=x) wink.
So what´s my point ?
As far as i tested it,it´s possible to make good games with BBC-BASIC (Version 6)
even for a beginner in the "business". It´s also possible to use BASIC for
demo-stuff and "Full" games as seen in Iron Lord and all
shareware stuff from MoPs (Moving Pixels).
Just try it out !

Damnit Tim, when are you gonna fix that link detecting code?

And I think that TIB's forums are a newer version than AA's as well! Get your priorities right!

And what about having a :waffle: for long posts?

Don't go telling me to put all this stuff in the comments/suggestions area either! wink
