I admit I haven´t been here in a while, I sort of was just browsing seeing all the old sites, I remember when skirmish was revieled.. I even saved up the money for it... HehStarfigher was new(and still the best game for its time ever), and the best game on the market the sound quality of my acorn blew all my friends computers out of the water. Cannon fodder.....flash back....twin world Dune friggan 2, (woot) I dont know what is cosure in the acorn comunity (to talk about the crushing fall of acorn or not) but I realise that looking upon this site I see people clinging a once glourious past, I have moved on to much greater things, seeing people excited about repton!! I remember finishing that when I was 7!, I know a lot of you think ..´What if?´, what if the Acorn market had boomed? what if acorn games where at the level of the pc market? what if? its a nice thought but nothing to hang onto too long. I used to visit this site 2ce a day. Acorn RIP Benjamin Naulls |

I can see RISC OS continue in the over croweded world of OS´s, but can you really see it a platform for gaming?, by the look of it nothing half decent has come out of the community since I left 5 years ago, The best OS in the universe could be written, but I highly doubt that anyone will jump at the chance to write games on it. will this new RISC OS run on diferent systems or will you still need to buy a $4000 NZD system when I am selling computers for now $600?

Nobody's clinging onto anything. Just 'round here we don't rubbish past games for the sake of it. They're games and a game is a game is a game. Simple as that. Also nobody's under any illusion as to there being a games market. Any game that comes out for RISC OS whether an open-source conversion, retro-inspired, for a retro-platform under emulation, an update of an old game, a re-released old game or just more levels, cheats etc for an old game it's a bonus. Nobody buys RISC OS for games but since when has that been a reason to forego playing games on it? Long live the RISC OS gaming community! |
