The mario you get is random.

Sometimes you get the little mario, sometimes big mario, sometimes big mario with fire power. (if you get big mario with fire power, press A to fire wink)

That's really weird. I've downloaded about 10 virtual console games, and it's always been Big Mario until yesterday.

Maybe I'm missing a firmware update, or something, but I did check for one two months or so ago, and there wasn't one...

Ooh, USB keyboard support officially announced and working in the Internet Channel smile

Today must be a gaming day. Orange Box release (of which so far I've completed Portal and am now playing through Episode 2), and Three messages awaiting on the Wii from Nintendo smile

And yes, I sent this using a USB keyboard attached to the Wii, just because I could.

OK, I've started playing Ocarina of Time again. I had to cheat in order to find out how what to do after you finish the Forest Temple (I don't think they give you enough hints to point you towards Goron City, but never mind), and then played through the Fire Temple only needing one hint (which was to destroy the blocked doorway near the beginning with a bomb - stupidly, I thought I'd tried that, but I actually hadn't, so that's my own fault).

But now I've been pointed towards Zora's River. And I can't figure out what to do next. I've gone to see the King, but he's all frozen. Without giving away the answer entirely - can anyone give me a hint as to what to do next? I've tried everything I can think of - the Fire spell, playing Zelda's Lullaby, playing the Song of Time, hitting the bastard King with my newly-aquired Hammer, and exploring everywhere I can think of.

I'm beginning to get the feeling I just don't suit the difficulty level of the game at all. Twilight Princess is far easier, and I played that first...

Stop playing OOT and get Metroid Prime Corruption instead. It's teh aces.

Oh, what, you want a proper hint? Explore the area behind him where you found Lord Jabu Jabu. There's a mini dungeon which will give you the object you need.

Edit: You WILL have to give up your no-cheat policy for the water temple, which comes up a bit later on. It's the hardest dungeon in the game, and a right evil bastard.

I would if my girlfriend hadn't put a freeze on Wii purchases Crybaby

Ta - that's great. I *did* actually explore there... but clearly didn't explore well enough. (And I can't complain that I didn't get enough of a hint this time - I was told to go to Zora's river, and behind Jabu-Jabu *is* the source of it...)

Yeah, I remember you saying I'd need a walkthrough!

The Fire Temple, despite my stupid mistake early on, was the easiest dungeon so far for me, by far. I usually get badly stuck on one bit (I spent *ages* wandering around in the Forest Temple, before cheating and finding out that the key I need in IN THE MAIN FUCKING ENTRANCE) - but I did the Fire Temple without a hitch.

Well, I'm now in the Water Temple. I had to cheat AGAIN on the Ice Cavern - I didn't realise that you were supposed to pick up all the silver rupees in the room to open the door. Which is PAINFULLY obvious - they even give you a hint by a special sound going off when you collect a rupeee - so that's just me being pathetically bad.

I've promised myself that if I manage the Water Temple without looking at the solution, it'll make up for all my cheating earlier on...

The Check Mii Out channel is now available for free in the Wii shop. It's amusing how many variants there are of Jesus, Hitler, Jack Black and Michael Jackson.

And Mario. I spotted a Miyamoto or two earlier, too.

And why isn't it called Check Mii Out in Europe? What's with the Mii Contest Channel name that doesn't sound as good.. too formal like.

I'm not allowing myself to buy it yet. I still have Metroid Prime to finish, Hotel Dusk to start, and I haven't got Phantom Hourglass yet either.

Stupid Christmas release schedules.
